Soluspesifiin

Soluspesifiin is a fictional class of molecular receptors described in theoretical chemistry and science fiction to illustrate the concept of ultra-selective solute binding. In the proposed paradigm, a soluspesifiin molecule binds one particular solute with exceptionally high affinity while excluding nearly all others, enabling selective transport, extraction, or signaling in mixed solvents. The term combines the Latin solus, meaning alone or single, with specifiin, a coined suffix signaling specificity.

The design concept envisions a rigid core with a defined binding pocket, tailored steric and electronic environment, and adaptable peripheral groups to adjust polarity and solubility. No single empirical structure exists in real-world chemistry; as a concept, it serves to explore how molecular recognition can approach perfect selectivity.

In hypothetical synthesis, soluspesifiin would be assembled via modular steps to construct a preorganized cavity, followed by functionalization to optimize affinity for the target solute. Conceptual studies discuss kinetics and thermodynamics indicating high selectivity could emerge from complementary shape, hydrogen-bonding pattern, and solvent effects.
