Solfeggio
Solfeggio refers to a set of musical tones and corresponding frequencies that are said to have special healing and spiritual properties. The term originates from the Latin solus, signifying “alone” in the context of solfège, the music education technique used for sixteenth‑century solmization. In the twentieth‑century revival, James F. Doty and later Joseph Puleo proposed that there were nine tones, ranging from 174 Hz to 963 Hz, that appeared in early Gregorian chant manuscripts and that they resonate with the body and mind. These nine “Solfeggio frequencies” are 174, 285, 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, 852, and 963 Hz.
