Sobeys
Sobeys is a Canadian grocery retailer headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. It operates more than 1,600 stores across Canada under brands such as Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Food Basics and FreshCo. The company was founded in 1907 by William Forbes as a small grocery shop in Halifax and has grown into one of the country’s largest food retailers. In 1996 Sobeys merged with Safeway Canada, adding 920 stores and expanding its footprint into Atlantic Canada, Quebec, and the southern provinces. The merger created a nationwide network that serves over 40 million customers annually.
