Snølastene

Snølastene, also known as the Snowshoes, are a group of mountains located in the Jotunheimen mountain range in Norway. The name "Snølastene" translates to "the snow loaders," a reference to the mountains' steep slopes and the heavy snowfall they receive. The group is part of the Jotunheimen National Park and is known for its stunning landscapes, including glaciers, waterfalls, and deep valleys.

The Snølastene are composed of several peaks, with the highest being Store Skagastølstind at 2,286 meters. The mountains are popular among hikers and mountaineers, offering challenging trails and breathtaking views. The area is also a haven for wildlife, including the European brown bear, which can be spotted in the surrounding forests.

The Snølastene are accessible by car, with several parking lots and hiking trails leading to the base of the mountains. However, due to the steep terrain and heavy snowfall, it is recommended to have appropriate gear and experience for hiking or climbing in the area. The best time to visit is during the summer months, when the weather is milder and the snow has melted.
