Slagseghetstester, known in English as impact tests, are mechanical tests used to determine a material's resistance to fracture when subjected to a sudden impact load. This property is crucial for materials used in applications where sudden forces are expected, such as automotive components, aerospace structures, and protective gear. The tests measure the energy absorbed by a material before it breaks.

The most common slagseghetstester is the Charpy impact test. In this test, a notched specimen of the material is struck by a swinging pendulum hammer. The height to which the hammer swings after fracturing the specimen is used to calculate the energy absorbed during the impact. Another common test is the Izod impact test, which is similar to the Charpy test but uses a different specimen configuration and support method.
