Skyggelagte

Skyggelagte is a Norwegian adjective used to describe areas, surfaces, or objects that receive little direct sunlight because they are blocked by buildings, terrain, vegetation, or other obstructions. The term stems from skygge (shadow) and the suffix -lagte, which indicates that something has been subjected to or covered by shadow.

In geography, urban planning, forestry, and meteorology, skyggelagte forhold are important for understanding daylight access, solar radiation, and microclimate. Skyggelagte områder can experience cooler temperatures, reduced daylight hours, and higher humidity compared with sunlit zones. These conditions influence energy use, building design, and the usability of outdoor spaces.
