Skolenhet is a term used in several Nordic education systems to denote an administrative unit responsible for organizing and delivering schooling within a defined geographic area. In many cases it corresponds to a municipal education unit that oversees primary and lower secondary education for all students in the area, including enrollment, funding, staffing, and strategic development.

Responsibilities of a skolenhet typically include ensuring compliance with the national curriculum, developing local instructional practices, managing budgets and facilities, coordinating special education and student welfare services, and producing performance data and reports to higher authorities. The skolenhet may operate as a stand-alone overarching entity or as part of a municipal education department; within it, individual schools maintain local autonomy in day-to-day matters but align with unit-wide policies and goals. It is led by a unit manager or director, who coordinates with school principals and elected officials.
