Sivertin

Sivertin is a coastal municipality located in the northwestern part of the fictional Nordmark region in Valoria. It sits on a granite peninsula that juts into the Gulf of Lerna, with inland hills rising to about 300 meters. The landscape includes small inlets, oak and pine forests, and several streams that feed the harbor. The municipal area covers about 92 square kilometers. The population is around 7,000, with a density of roughly 76 people per square kilometer. The official language is the Nordmarkian tongue, with a local patois widely spoken among older residents.

Established in the mid-14th century as a trading and fishing settlement, Sivertin grew around its harbor and maritime industries. In the 17th and 18th centuries it served as a regional waypoint and saw the construction of a lighthouse. The town underwent modernization in the late 19th century with the arrival of steam powered mills and a small shipyard. In the 20th century, the economy diversified to include manufacturing and services, while fishing remained central.

Economy is based on fishing, timber, and more recently tourism, small manufacturing, and services. Transportation connections include a regional highway, a ferry link to neighboring islands, and a small airstrip used by regional carriers.

Government in Sivertin operates under a municipal council model with a directly elected mayor. The local government administers education, policing in cooperation with the regional authorities, and provisioning of municipal services. Education includes one upper secondary school and several primary schools; there is a library and a community clinic.

Notable sites include the Sivertin Lighthouse, the ruined Sivertin Fortress overlooking the harbor, and the Sivertin Maritime Museum. The annual Sivertin Maritime Festival draws visitors with boat parades, seafood dishes, and crafts.
