Simão, full name Simão Sabrosa, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a winger. Born on October 31, 1979, in Vila Nova de Gaia, he began his career in 1997 at Benfica, making his professional debut under manager Jôao Pinto. Subsequent transfers took him to Arsenal, in 1999, followed by-transfer to Braga, on-loan in 2000.

Simão's career was marked by his versatility, exceptional technique, and ability to play on either flank. He represented Portugal in several international competitions, earning 85 caps and scoring 22 goals. A standout performance came in the 2000 European Championship, where he scored twice in the tournament. Simão also participated in the 2002, 2006, and 2010 FIFA World Cups and the European Championships of 2000 and 2004, contributing significantly to Portugal's campaigns.

A transfer to Atlético Madrid in 2008 marked a new chapter in Simão's career, initially on-loan and later making the move permanent in 2009. His stay at the Spanish club was notable for his creative contributions, and he scored his first goal in the 2007-08 Champions League. Simão eventually returned to his home country, signing with Liverpool in 2010 but joining Benfica again in 2010. He officially retired from football in April 2014. Since then, Simão has remained involved in football, taking up a coaching role as a manager in the youth teams of Académica de Coimbra.
