SilverStone

Silverstone is a village and civil parish in the South Northamptonshire district of Northamptonshire, England. It lies near Towcester, close to the border with Buckinghamshire, and forms part of a rural landscape that includes farmsteads and small hamlets. The parish encompasses the village of Silverstone and surrounding countryside; the population is small and the area is predominantly agricultural. The settlement is best known internationally for the nearby Silverstone Circuit, which hosts major motor racing events and attracts visitors to the region.

Silverstone Circuit is a purpose-built racing circuit adjacent to the village. It was developed on the site of RAF Silverstone, an airfield used during World War II, and opened as a race track in 1948. The circuit's length and layout have changed several times; the current Grand Prix circuit covers about 5.891 kilometres (3.660 miles). It hosts the British Grand Prix as part of the Formula One World Championship, along with other international and national events. The track is owned and managed by the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) and has undergone multiple redevelopment phases, including a major modernization in the 1990s and the addition of the Silverstone Wing, a combined conference centre and hotel opened in the early 2010s. The circuit also hosts events across motor racing disciplines and has supported driving experiences and corporate functions.
