Sikkerhetsdatablene

Sikkerhetsdatablene are technical data sheets provided to suppliers or other interested parties to obtain approval and use of specific substances or materials in Denmark. These sheets were required by the Danish authorities to help facilitate the safe handling, use, and disposal of substances.

Sikkerhetsdatablene were introduced in 1987 and were made mandatory based on the requirements of the Chemical Substances Control Act. Businesses and other organizations involved in the production, importation, or disposal of substances containing hazardous materials were required to provide Sikkerhetsdatablene to ensure proper handling and protection of employees, consumers, and the environment.

Each Sikkerhetsdatabl would supply general information about the material being supplied, including its technical properties, safety advice, and descriptions of its chemical composition. This information was vital for companies to assess potential hazards associated with the material's production, processing, and disposal.

Sikkerhetsdatablene contained both mandatory and voluntary components. As of 2007, Danish policy began to gradually move away from producing separate data sheets for various uses of specific substances, namely in household and third country products towards using Common Data Sheets.
