The term comes from the Finnish adjective siisti, meaning neat. Siistiminen emphasizes orderliness and cleanliness and is often used alongside siivoaminen (cleaning), though the latter can have a broader sense of cleaning as a task. In practice, siistiminen can refer to both short cleaning sessions and longer organizational efforts.
