Signeeraus is a ceremonial practice described in the fantasy cultures of Veridia and the surrounding regions. It functions as a formal method for committing to agreements, oaths, or alliances through a public signing that combines written sigils, spoken vows, and witnessed acknowledgment. In many narratives, the rite is treated as both legal and social proof of consent, binding participants in the eyes of the community.

Etymology and origins are framed within the lore rather than a real language. The term is presented as deriving from signa or sigil traditions and the outward act of declaration, signaling that a private promise becomes a public obligation. Legends place the earliest references in coastal city-states where trade, marriage, and treaty-making intersected with guild authority. Over time, several variants emerged across realms, each adapting the ritual to local customs and laws.

Practice and procedure typically follow a set sequence. Preparations include selecting sigil tablets or parchment, preparing ink and seals, and gathering witnesses. The sigil is inscribed, often with a stylus or seal, while a formal oath is pronounced. Witnesses sign or affix seals, and the document is sealed with wax or other markers of authority. Public record is then kept in a municipal or temple ledger known as the Signboard or equivalent archive, serving as an enduring record of the agreement.

Variants and status differ by jurisdiction and tradition. Civil Signeeraus emphasizes secular contracts and municipal governance, while Religious Signeeraus weaves vows into spiritual covenants. In some depictions, the ritual carries significant political weight; in others, it remains a symbolic ceremony.
