Shiraoi
Shiraoi is a town located in the Shiraoi District of Hokkaido, Japan. It is situated on the Pacific coast of southern Hokkaido, approximately 80 kilometers south of Sapporo. The town is known for its natural beauty, including Lake Utonai, a Ramsar Convention-designated wetland that is an important habitat for migratory birds. Another significant natural feature is Mount Poroshiri, the highest peak in the Hidaka Mountains, which is accessible from the Shiraoi area for hiking and mountaineering.
