ShareX

ShareX is a free and open-source screen capture, file sharing, and productivity tool for Windows. It provides a broad set of capture options, an integrated editor, and an extensive system for uploading and sharing content. The project is maintained by a community of volunteers and released under the GPLv3 license.

Capture functionality in ShareX covers multiple modes, including full screen, active window, region, monitor, and scrolling captures for long pages. It also offers text capture from the screen. After capturing, images can be edited with the built-in image editor and annotated with arrows, shapes, and text. The tool includes features such as color picking and optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text from images.

Sharing and uploading are central to ShareX. Users can configure uploaders to send files and images to a wide range of destinations, including image hosting services, cloud storage, FTP servers, and other custom endpoints. Captures can be automatically uploaded after capture, with the resulting share URL copied to the clipboard or opened in a browser, facilitating quick distribution.

Automation and customization are supported through hotkeys, task settings, and workflows that chain actions such as capture, edit, upload, and copy URL. ShareX provides a flexible framework for defining post-capture actions, enabling personalized automation and batch processing.

ShareX is designed for Windows and is not offered as an official cross-platform release. It is free and open source, with the source code available on platforms like GitHub, where ongoing development and community contributions are documented.
