Shafirs is a term that can refer to several distinct entities, primarily found in religious and cultural contexts. The most common association is with the Shafir or Shofet, a biblical figure from the Old Testament. In the Book of Judges, the Shofetim, or "Judges," were charismatic leaders who arose to deliver the Israelites from oppression. These individuals often served as military leaders, legal arbiters, and spiritual guides, though they did not hold the hereditary kingship that later characterized the Israelite monarchy. Examples of prominent Shofetim include Deborah, Gideon, and Samson. The period of the Judges is generally considered to have preceded the establishment of the Israelite monarchy under Saul.
