Sesiioidea
Sesiioidea is a superfamily of moths belonging to the order Lepidoptera. These moths are commonly known as clearwing moths or sessiid moths due to the transparent or semi-transparent patches on their wings, which are a distinctive characteristic of many species within this group. The transparency is a result of the scales being reduced or absent in these areas. Adult sesiioids often exhibit mimicry, resembling wasps or bees in their coloration and wing patterns, which provides them with a degree of protection from predators.
The larvae of sesiioids are typically wood- or stem-boring insects, feeding within the tissues of various plants.
