Sertorius
Quintus Sertorius was a Roman military commander and politician of the late Roman Republic. Born in Nursia, he served with distinction under Marius and Sulla in the Social War. Following Sulla's victory and subsequent proscriptions, Sertorius, a supporter of Marius, found himself on the losing side. He was appointed governor of Hispania Ulterior, but when Sulla's forces threatened his position, he fled to Mauretania.
