Semigraphical
Semigraphical refers to a style of visual representation that combines elements of both symbolic and literal imagery. It does not fully embrace the abstraction of purely symbolic graphics nor the detailed realism of photographic or purely pictorial representations. Instead, semigraphical elements often simplify complex forms into recognizable shapes or outlines, using a limited palette and distinct lines to convey information or evoke a particular aesthetic. This approach is frequently seen in user interface design, instructional diagrams, and certain types of illustrations where clarity and immediate understanding are prioritized over intricate detail.
The term can also describe a type of computer graphics that falls between vector and raster formats.
