Selfseals
Selfseals are a type of sealing technology where the sealing element is designed to create and maintain its own seal against a mating surface without requiring external clamping pressure or complex assembly. This often involves materials with inherent elasticity or specific geometric designs that deform under operational conditions to achieve a tight closure. The primary function of a selfseal is to prevent the leakage of fluids or gases, or to exclude contaminants from entering a system.
These seals are commonly found in applications where ease of assembly, maintenance, and cost-effectiveness are important.
The design of a selfseal is typically optimized for the specific operating environment, considering factors such
