Common types of Sehzellenveränderungen include degeneration, where the photoreceptor cells progressively deteriorate, leading to vision loss. This can occur in conditions like retinitis pigmentosa, a group of inherited disorders characterized by progressive degeneration of the photoreceptors. Another type is dysfunction, where the cells are present but do not operate optimally, potentially due to metabolic issues or subtle structural abnormalities.

Causes of Sehzellenveränderungen are diverse. Genetic mutations are a significant factor, predisposing individuals to inherited retinal diseases.
