Sebacic
Sebacic acid, also called decanedioic acid, is a dicarboxylic acid with the chemical formula C10H18O4. It consists of a ten-carbon aliphatic chain bearing carboxyl groups at both ends (HOOC-(CH2)8-COOH). The compound occurs in trace amounts in castor oil and is produced commercially by the oxidative degradation of ricinoleic acid derived from castor oil, followed by purification to isolate sebacic acid. The process can yield other diacids such as azelaic and suberic acids, which are separated during purification.
Sebacic acid is a versatile monomer used in the production of polyamides, polyesters, and plasticizers. It is
In terms of physical properties, sebacic acid is a white to off-white crystalline solid with limited water
