Seadetest

Seadetest is a term in Estonian that refers to the testing of devices, equipment, or systems. The word combines seade (device) with test and is used in technical, engineering, and procurement contexts to denote the process of evaluating whether a device conforms to its specifications and intended use.

In practice, seadetest encompasses a range of activities: functional testing confirms that features operate as designed; performance testing assesses speed, accuracy, throughput, or energy use; reliability testing checks longevity under normal and accelerated conditions; safety testing evaluates risk factors and compliance with safety requirements; environmental testing subjects devices to temperature, humidity, vibration, and other stresses; and interoperability testing ensures compatibility with other devices or systems. In software-enabled devices, seadetest also includes embedded software validation and hardware-software integration testing.

The testing process typically follows a defined test plan, uses measurement equipment and data logging, and results in test reports that document pass/fail criteria and traceability. Seadetest is conducted at different stages of product development and lifecycle, from design verification to production readiness and post-market surveillance, and it may be performed by manufacturers, independent labs, or regulatory bodies.

Regulatory and standards considerations depend on device category and market and can include safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental rules. In Estonian technical literature, seadetest is a general concept rather than a specific standardized procedure.
