Scrollmark
Scrollmark is a conceptual term that can refer to a variety of marking systems used to denote a position or state within a scrollable interface. This can range from simple visual indicators to more complex functional elements. In graphical user interfaces, a scrollbar often contains a thumb or handle that visually represents the current view position within the entire content. The size of the thumb can also indicate the proportion of content currently visible. Beyond scrollbars, scrollmarks might also appear as subtle visual cues, such as a progress bar at the top or bottom of a document, or a small icon that highlights the active section being viewed. In some applications, a scrollmark could be a user-defined bookmark or a highlight that the user places to return to a specific point later. The primary purpose of any scrollmark is to provide users with a clear understanding of their location within a larger body of information and to facilitate navigation and control over the scrolling experience. The specific implementation and appearance of a scrollmark are dependent on the design and functionality of the software or application in question.
