In practice, sclerodermale is usually encountered as a descriptor for scleroderma-like changes rather than as a formal diagnosis. Its use can vary between authors and languages, and it may be encountered more often in informal or historical texts.

Context and meaning: in discussions where it appears, sclerodermale may refer to cutaneous fibrosis or dermal hardening that resembles scleroderma. It can also describe histopathological observations of a fibrotic dermis without specifying systemic involvement. Because the term is not standardized, its precise meaning depends on the author and context.

Relation to established conditions: systemic sclerosis (systemic scleroderma) is the best-known disease involving widespread skin thickening and internal organ fibrosis. Localized forms such as morphea involve dermal sclerosis without systemic organ involvement.
