Schreibtischhöhe

Schreibtischhöhe refers to the height of a desk from the floor to the top surface. Proper schreibischhöhe is crucial for ergonomic comfort and can impact posture, productivity, and long-term health. Standard schreibischhöhe in many countries is around 73 to 76 centimeters, designed to accommodate the average adult. However, individual needs vary significantly based on height, sitting or standing preference, and specific tasks performed at the desk.

For seated work, the ideal schreibischhöhe allows the user's elbows to rest at approximately a 90-degree angle when typing or writing, with forearms parallel to the floor. Feet should be able to rest flat on the floor, or on a footrest if necessary. This prevents strain on the shoulders, neck, and wrists.

Adjustable height desks, often referred to as sit-stand desks, have gained popularity as they allow users to alternate between sitting and standing throughout the workday. This variation in posture is believed to have health benefits, reducing sedentary behavior and promoting better circulation. When using a sit-stand desk, the standing height should also allow for the 90-degree elbow angle.
