Scheefliggen

Scheefliggen is a Dutch term that literally translates to "lying crooked" or "lying askew." It refers to a position where someone is lying down in an unbalanced or awkward manner. This can occur for various reasons, often related to discomfort, lack of support, or an unusual sleeping surface. For instance, a person might scheefliggen if they are trying to sleep on a lumpy mattress or a reclined chair without proper alignment. It can also describe the position of an object that is not placed flat or evenly.

The term is commonly used in informal contexts to describe a state of not being properly positioned. While not a medical term, it can sometimes be associated with minor aches or stiffness resulting from prolonged scheefliggen. In some cases, it might imply a lack of care in how one is resting.
