Schatullen
Schatullen is a Dutch-language term used to describe chests or containers that were used to store valuables. The term commonly appears in historical inventories, maritime records, and folklore to denote boxes that could hold coins, jewelry, manuscripts, or other precious items. In many sources schatullen are described as small to medium-sized wooden chests reinforced with metal bands and clasps, often elaborately decorated.
