Scapanulus is a genus of shrews in the family Soricidae. The genus currently contains a single recognized species, Scapanulus owstoni. This species is commonly known as Owston's shrew or Owston's shrew mole. It is endemic to China, specifically found in the mountainous regions of Sichuan and Guizhou provinces.

Scapanulus owstoni is a small mammal characterized by its fossorial adaptations. It possesses a streamlined body, reduced eyes, and powerful forelimbs adapted for digging. Its fur is typically dark brown to black on the dorsal side and lighter on the ventral side. The snout is elongated and sensitive, used for locating invertebrates in the soil.
