Saxony-Anhalt is one of Germany’s 16 federal states, located in the eastern part of the country. It has two capital cities, Magdeburg and Halle (Saale), with Halle also being its largest city. The state covers about 20,400 square kilometers and is home to roughly 2.2 million people. It is bordered by Lower Saxony to the west, Brandenburg to the northeast, Saxony to the southeast, and Thuringia to the south.
