Savants
Savants are individuals who, despite having significant cognitive or developmental disabilities, demonstrate exceptional abilities in specific domains. Savant syndrome is the term used to describe this pattern. It is rare, occurring in only a small minority of people with neurodevelopmental differences, most commonly autism spectrum disorder, but also after brain injury, illness, or dementia.
Savants may show prodigious memory, artistic or musical talent, mathematical facility, calendar calculation, or mechanical prowess.
