Sabicas

Sabicas, born Agustín Castellón Amaya on June 16, 1912, in Pamplona, Spain, was a renowned flamenco guitarist. He is widely considered one of the most influential figures in the history of flamenco guitar. Sabicas began playing at a young age, demonstrating prodigious talent that quickly set him apart.

His career took him beyond Spain, performing extensively in South America and later in the United States, where he spent much of his adult life. He collaborated with many legendary flamenco singers and dancers, including Carmen Amaya and Lola Flores, establishing himself as a sought-after accompanist.

Sabicas was known for his technical virtuosity, innovative playing style, and his ability to imbue his music with deep emotion and passion. He developed new techniques and expanded the harmonic and melodic possibilities of the flamenco guitar, influencing generations of guitarists.
