Saatmisaegu

Saatmisaegu is a traditional Korean folk game that originated from the *sanggeun* (상건) or *sanggeunbae* (상건배) games, which were played during the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910). The name *saatmisaegu* translates roughly to "seven stones," referring to the seven small stones used in the game. It is often played during festivals, family gatherings, or as a children’s pastime, reflecting its cultural significance in Korean social life.

The game involves two players or teams competing to collect the most stones while adhering to specific rules. Typically, seven stones are placed in a circle on the ground, and players take turns tossing a small stone (often a pebble or coin) to knock out one of the stationary stones. The goal is to remove all seven stones from the circle, with each player alternating turns. Variations exist, including competitive versions where players must recapture stones or strategic moves to block opponents.

Saatmisaegu is not only a recreational activity but also carries symbolic meanings in Korean culture.
