SVT2

SVT2 is the second television channel of Sveriges Television (SVT), Sweden's public-service broadcaster. The channel began life in 1969 as TV2, the second national TV channel alongside TV1, with the aim of expanding public broadcasting. In the mid-1990s SVT reorganized its channel branding and the two networks were marketed as SVT1 and SVT2. SVT2's schedule traditionally emphasizes in-depth public-service programs, including news and current affairs, documentaries, science, culture, and drama. It also airs European and international co-productions and serves as a platform for educational and cultural programming alongside SVT1. During major news events and public-interest broadcasts, SVT2 may simulcast or share programming with SVT1.

The channel is available free-to-air in Sweden via terrestrial broadcasting and is distributed by SVT on cable,

With digital switchover and modernization, SVT2 has offered high-definition transmissions where available and aligns with SVT's
