SRSAM

SRSAM, also known as Surface-to-Air Missile Short Range, is a mobile air defense missile system developed by the Indian Defence Research and Development Organization. The system is designed to provide a short-range air defense capability against enemy aircraft and missiles.

The SRSAM system consists of a 40-kilogram high-explosive pre-fragmented warhead, a range of 50 kilometers, and can reach a speed of up to Mach 4. SRSAM also has a reaction time of 3 seconds, making it a highly effective system in combat situations. The system is mounted on a launcher, which includes a unditchable mobility, ready-to-fire in 10 minutes and enable air defenses in first three hours.

SRSAM missile system is a point air defense missile system designed to counter low-flying, high-performance aircraft as well as first-generation high-maneuverability air targets. It uses a combination of radar and smart sensors to detect and track incoming targets. The system has also been developed with a composite construction for its lower space and drag.

In September 2004, India placed orders with Bharat Dynamics Limited to supply 1,000 SRSAM missiles. The system is designed to be integrated with the existing Indian Integrated Battle Group management command system which is the binding element of ground, air, and sea-based assets that are all architecturally capable of real time integration and coordination. It was announced in 2021 that trials of the missile system had been successfully completed, marking the final stage of testing before employing the system.
