SOUTHCOM
SOUTHCOM is the United States Southern Command, one of the eleven unified combatant commands of the United States Department of Defense. It is responsible for security cooperation and operations in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. The command's area of responsibility spans 31 countries and 13 dependencies, encompassing a region of significant strategic importance to the United States. SOUTHCOM's mission includes fostering regional stability, countering transnational threats such as narcotics trafficking and terrorism, and promoting democracy and human rights. It works in close partnership with the militaries and governments of countries within its area of operations to build capacity and enhance collective security.
