SKOSn

SKOSn is a namespace-oriented extension of the Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS). It was developed to enable the use of namespaces in SKOSScripts, which allows for more robust and flexible representation of knowledge organization systems. With SKOSn, users can define and manage separate namespaces for different vocabularies or thesauri, making it easier to create, manage and interlink them.

One of the key benefits of SKOSn is its ability to support the creation of complex, multi-vocabulary systems. By using namespaces, SKOSn enables users to organize vocabularies into separate, sequentially-numbered namespaces, which can then be referenced and linked to each other. This facilitates the development of large-scale, cross-domain knowledge networks. SKOSn also supports the use of owned URIs, which helps to prevent clashes between different vocabularies.

SKOSn provides several useful features, including the ability to import and export vocabularies in various formats, support for TTL and JSON data types, and the use of qualified names to avoid URI clashes. It also includes the concept of "identifiers" which can be used to map between different namespaces. The integration of SKOSn with other SKOS extensions has also been explored, which will enable the use of more robust functions.

SKOSn aims to make the management of complex, multi-vocabulary systems easier, by taking advantage of the strengths of SKOS. By using namespaces, SKOSn addresses some of the limitations of the base SKOS specification. As a more powerful tool for the organization and integration of knowledge systems, SKOSn could find applications in knowledge engineering and natural language processing, particularly where working with large knowledge bases is an issue.
