SCP-049 is a humanoid entity maintained by the fictional SCP Foundation. Classified as Euclid, it is described as wearing a traditional plague doctor’s outfit, complete with a mask, and standing approximately 1.9 meters tall. The being presents as highly articulate and fluent in English, with an air of antiquity, claiming to originate from a period consistent with Black Death-era medicine. SCP-049 is known to be highly inquisitive about disease and anatomy and demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and pathology.

SCP-049’s anomalous properties center on a stated ability to diagnose and “cure” diseases it perceives as present in living subjects. When SCP-049 interacts with a living person, it may perform what it terms a surgical procedure that results in the immediate death of the subject. The entity then creates a reanimation of the corpse, designated SCP-049-2, which becomes a compliant, zombie-like subject under SCP-049’s apparent control. SCP-049 asserts these actions are intended to remove disease from the world, though the resulting SCP-049-2 subjects display limited autonomy and altered physiology. The Foundation has documented that these reanimations do not return to normal living conditions and that the process raises significant ethical and containment concerns.
