Røtbeskjæring

Røtbeskjæring is a horticultural practice involving the selective removal of a plant's roots. This technique is employed for various reasons, primarily to manage plant growth, improve root structure, and facilitate transplantation.

One of the main applications of røtbeskjæring is in the cultivation of young trees and shrubs. By pruning the roots of nursery stock, growers can encourage the development of a more compact and fibrous root system. This type of root structure is beneficial for the plant's establishment in a new location, as it allows for better nutrient and water uptake.

Røtbeskjæring is also a crucial step in the process of transplanting mature trees. When a large tree is moved, a significant portion of its root system is inevitably lost.
