Röntgenológusok, more commonly known as radiologists, are medical doctors who specialize in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries using medical imaging techniques. These techniques include X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. Radiologists interpret the images produced by these technologies and provide reports to other physicians, who then use this information to guide patient care and treatment plans.

The field of radiology is vast and can be further divided into subspecialties. These include diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, pediatric radiology, and neuroradiology, among others. Diagnostic radiologists focus primarily on interpreting medical images to identify abnormalities. Interventional radiologists use imaging guidance to perform minimally invasive procedures, such as angioplasty, stenting, and biopsies. Pediatric radiologists specialize in imaging children, while neuroradiologists focus on the brain, spine, and nervous system.

To become a radiologist, a physician must complete medical school, followed by a residency program in radiology. Many radiologists also pursue fellowships for further subspecialty training. They play a critical role in modern healthcare, providing essential diagnostic information that impacts countless medical decisions and patient outcomes.
