Röntgenmyndatöku

Röntgenmyndatöku, also known as X-ray imaging, is a non-invasive medical diagnostic technique that uses electromagnetic radiation to create images of the inside of the body. This process involves passing a small amount of X-ray radiation through the body. Different tissues absorb this radiation to varying degrees. Dense tissues, such as bone, absorb more X-rays and appear whiter on the resulting image. Softer tissues, like muscles and organs, absorb fewer X-rays and appear in shades of gray, while air, which absorbs very little, appears black.

The X-rays that pass through the body strike a detector, which can be photographic film or a digital sensor, to form the image. This technology is widely used to visualize bones for fractures, detect lung conditions like pneumonia, and identify foreign objects. It is also employed in dentistry to examine teeth and jaw structures, and in mammography for breast cancer screening. While generally safe, the radiation dose is carefully controlled and kept as low as reasonably achievable to minimize potential risks. The procedure is quick and typically painless, often requiring no special preparation.
