Röhrenfertigung refers to the manufacturing processes involved in creating tubes or pipes. These can range from metal tubes used in construction, plumbing, and automotive industries to glass tubes utilized in scientific apparatus, lighting, and electronics. The specific methods employed depend heavily on the material and the intended application of the tube.

For metal tubes, common techniques include extrusion, where metal is forced through a die to create a hollow shape, and drawing, where a pre-formed tube is pulled through a die to reduce its diameter and wall thickness. Seamless tubes are produced through processes that avoid welding, ensuring uniform strength and integrity. Welded tubes are formed by joining metal edges together, often using electric resistance welding (ERW) or submerged arc welding (SAW).

Glass tubes are typically manufactured by drawing molten glass from a furnace. The molten glass is fed onto a mandrel, and air is blown through it while it is drawn and cooled, creating a uniform cylindrical shape. Precision is crucial in glass tube manufacturing, especially for scientific and medical applications.

The production of plastic tubes, widely used in packaging, medical devices, and fluid transport, often involves extrusion. Plastic pellets are melted and then forced through a die that shapes them into a hollow tube.
