RutherfordBohr
RutherfordBohr is a hypothetical construct representing the merging of Ernest Rutherford's nuclear model of the atom with Niels Bohr's quantum mechanical model. Rutherford's experiments in 1911 established the existence of a small, dense, positively charged nucleus at the center of an atom, with electrons orbiting it. This planetary model, however, failed to explain atomic stability and spectral lines, as classical physics predicted orbiting electrons would continuously radiate energy and spiral into the nucleus.
Niels Bohr, in 1913, proposed a model that incorporated early quantum theory to address these shortcomings.
