Rumi, also known as Mevlana Jalaluddin Muhammad Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic. He was born in 1207 in the city of Balkh, in present-day Afghanistan, and died in Konya, in present-day Turkey, in 1273.
