Rubyllas

Rubyllas is a fictional species of bioluminescent flora native to the planet Xylos. These plants are characterized by their translucent, ruby-colored leaves that emit a soft, pulsating light. The intensity and color of the luminescence can vary depending on environmental factors such as humidity and ambient temperature, with deeper reds indicating higher moisture levels.

The primary function of the bioluminescence in Rubyllas is believed to be a method of attracting specific insectoid pollinators. These pollinators, known as Lumina Moths, are drawn to the gentle glow and are essential for the plant's reproductive cycle. The Rubyllas absorb nutrients from the mineral-rich soil of Xylos, and their root systems are known for their extensive reach, often intertwining with other subterranean flora.

Rubyllas reproduce through spores released from specialized pods that develop at the tip of their stems. These spores are dispersed by Xylos's prevailing winds and can lie dormant for extended periods until favorable conditions for germination arise. While generally sessile, there have been anecdotal reports of very slow, almost imperceptible movement in Rubyllas colonies, though this remains unconfirmed by scientific observation. The species plays a significant role in the Xylosian ecosystem, providing a unique light source in its native twilight forests and contributing to the planet's biodiversity.
