Roxette
Roxette is a Swedish pop duo consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. Formed in 1986, the group gained international recognition in the 1990s with their unique blend of pop, rock, and dance music. Their debut album, "Pearls of Passion," released in 1986, showcased their early sound, which evolved over time. The duo's breakthrough came with the release of their second album, "Look Sharp!" in 1988, which included the hit single "The Look." This album established their signature style, characterized by Gessle's distinctive vocals and Fredriksson's emotive lyrics. Roxette's third album, "Joyride," released in 1991, further solidified their status with hits like "It Must Have Been Love" and "Dressed for Success." The album's success led to a highly anticipated fourth album, "Crash! Boom! Bang!" in 1994, which included the chart-topping single "Anyone." The duo's final studio album, "Room Service," was released in 1999, featuring the hit single "Sleeping in My Car." Throughout their career, Roxette sold over 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music acts of all time. They are known for their energetic live performances and have won numerous awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album in 1993. After a hiatus, the duo reunited in 2016 for a series of concerts and released a compilation album, "Charm School," in 2020.
