Rostamnama

Rostamnama is a Persian epic poem, written by the poet Daqiqi in the 11th century. It is a continuation of the Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran, and follows the story of Rostam, one of the most famous heroes of Persian mythology. The poem is divided into two parts, the first part being a continuation of the Shahnameh, and the second part being an independent story.

In the first part, Rostamnama picks up where the Shahnameh leaves off, with Rostam's defeat of the giant Zahhak. The poem then describes Rostam's subsequent adventures, including his defeat of the giant Jamshid, the king of Persia, and his rescue of the princess Tahmineh from the giant Siahkam.

The second part of the Rostamnama is an independent story, set in the land of Turan. It tells of Rostam's journey to Turan to challenge the king, Kay Khosrow, to a duel. Rostam defeats Kay Khosrow and his army, but is ultimately killed by Kay Khosrow's son, Kay Kavus. The poem ends with the funeral of Rostam, who is buried in the city of Rey.

Rostamnama is considered one of the greatest works of Persian literature and has had a significant influence on Persian poetry and culture. It is known for its vivid descriptions of battles, its complex characters, and its exploration of themes such as honor, courage, and the nature of heroism. The poem has been translated into many languages and has been the subject of numerous scholarly studies.
