Daqiqi
Daqiqi was a Persian poet born in 932 AD in Tus, Khurasan, and died there in 999 AD. He is considered one of the most important poets of the Samanid and Ghaznavid eras. Daqiqi is best known for his epic poem, the Shahnameh, which he began to compose before Ferdowsi. He was commissioned by the Samanid ruler Mansur I to write a history of Persia in verse, based on the prose Shahnameh compiled by Abu Mansur Daqiqi. Daqiqi completed approximately one thousand couplets of the Shahnameh, detailing the reign of King Goshtasp and the advent of Zoroaster. His work was later continued and expanded upon by Ferdowsi, who is credited with completing the epic. Daqiqi's poetic style was characterized by its grandeur, elevated language, and vivid imagery. He played a significant role in establishing the Persian language as a literary medium and in preserving the legends and history of ancient Iran. His contribution to the Shahnameh, though incomplete, laid the foundation for one of the most celebrated works of Persian literature.
