Roomvaries is a term used in architectural planning and interior design to describe the degree of variability among rooms within a building or project. It encompasses dimensions, volumes, ceiling heights, functional types, and spatial relationships, reflecting how flexibly spaces can be repurposed or reconfigured over time.

The concept functions as a design and analysis lens rather than a fixed standard. It is often discussed in contexts such as modular construction, mixed-use developments, and flexible office or residential layouts, where adaptable spaces can accommodate changing needs without substantial structural change.

A practical way to quantify roomvaries is through a Room Variability Index (RVI). This may involve collecting room-level attributes such as area, height, shape, door and window distribution, intended function, and occupancy limits. Statistical measures, for example the coefficient of variation, or a weighted composite score, can be used to express variability on a scale from 0 (uniform rooms) to 1 (highly diverse rooms). In portfolio design, metrics can be aggregated across a campus, building, or floor to compare flexibility between options.
