Risnjak

Risnjak is a mountain in the Gorski Kotar region of Croatia, located near the town of Delnice. It forms the core of Risnjak National Park, a protected area established in 1953 to preserve the region’s forests, karst landscape, and biodiversity. The Risnjak massif is primarily limestone, shaped by a network of ridges, slopes, and caves that contribute to its rugged alpine character.

The highest peak in the range is Veliki Risnjak, which reaches about 1,528 meters above sea level.

Ecology and conservation are central to the park. Beech and fir forests dominate the lower to mid-elevations,

Access and recreation are popular with visitors. The park surrounds the Delnice area, offering marked hiking
